Roofing Materials:

Making the decision to replace your roof is the first step. The next step is choosing the style and materials to be used. Replacing existing materials with more of the same is not necessarily the best choice, particularly if the exterior of your home has changed.

Types of Materials:

Steep Slope

Asphalt Shingles
Fiberglass Reinforced Asphalt shingles feature a dimensional appearance. A wide range of colors and depth enhance the desired look of real wood shakes with a Class “A” fire rating with warranties that range between 25 and 50 years.

Wood Shakes and Shingles
Cedar shakes and shingles are built to withstand the elements and this time tested natural product will enhance the appearance of your home or building. Fire treated shakes and shingles provide excellent fire protection and meet the rigorous testing standards for Class “A, B or C” fire resistance and weathering as set by the Uniform Building Code and National Fire Protection Association. Warranties range from 25 to 50 years.

Tile
With it’s great variety of colors, styles and finishes, a concrete or clay tile roof can enhance the architecture of most any home or building. Tile protects your home from fire, high winds and blistering heat and is environmentally friendly. Tile is available in standard and light weight with a 50-year transferable warranty.

Underlayment and proper design of details is critical on all tile installations to assure long-term performance. Although tile is one of the best long term products available, you need to be aware of the maintenance that is required to keep the roof system water tight.

Slate
Although used less than other products, slate roofing not only provides a long term high end solution, it’s also available at a reasonable cost when certain products are used.

Low Slope

Hot and Cold Built-Up Roofing
A system of multiple layers of reinforcement plies that are adhered with either hot asphalt or cold application cement and surfaced with a variety of materials. Multi layered roof systems have passed the test of time and continue to be the most durable application available. Systems are designed to perform between 15 and 30 years with the ability to be restored to extend their useful life. Our roofing sales staff will evaluate your roof and custom design specifications to effectively meet your needs.

Single Ply Systems
Single layer roofing material is a very clean process without flaming torches, smoking kettles and strong odors. The advantages of using this system are:

  • PVC and TPO membranes reinforced with polyester scrim are used more often because of their “Cool Roof” properties and superior seam strength
  • EDPM rubber is also used as a long term solution with unmatched durability
  • Very durable
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Excellent resistance to environmental stresses including ozone and UV exposure, extreme weather conditions, chemicals and fire
  • Membrane can be applied during inclement weather if necessary
  • No heavy equipment used in the application process
  • Reflective surface color reduces energy costs
